An Eisenhower matrix sorts tasks by two questions - is it urgent, and is it important? - into four quadrants: Do it now, Schedule it, Delegate it, or Delete it. Add your family's household tasks below to get a clear priority plan you can copy or download. Everything stays in your browser.
Ask two questions: does it need attention in the next day or two (urgent), and does it protect your family's health, money, safety, or goals (important)?

Urgent and important
Handle these first, today or tomorrow.
Important, not urgent
Put a specific day and time on the family calendar.
Urgent, not important
Hand off to a family member, helper, or service with a deadline.
Neither urgent nor important
Drop, pause, or batch these so they stop taking up attention.
Add every task on the family's mind, such as bills, appointments, school forms, errands, and projects.
Mark each task as Do (urgent and important), Schedule (important, not urgent), Delegate (urgent, not important), or Delete (neither).
Optionally add who could handle each task, especially anything in the Delegate quadrant.
Copy the four-quadrant checklist or download it as a text file to share with your family.
Tip: if the Do quadrant keeps overflowing, move more tasks into Schedule before they become emergencies. Revisit the matrix once a week - a family meeting agenda is a natural place to do it.
An Eisenhower matrix is a 2x2 urgent/important grid. Urgent and important tasks are done now, important but not urgent tasks are scheduled, urgent but less important tasks are delegated, and tasks that are neither are dropped.
Urgent means it needs attention in the next day or two or a deadline is close. Important means it protects your family's health, safety, money, relationships, or long-term goals. A task can be one, both, or neither.
Delegate urgent, lower-impact tasks to whoever can reasonably finish them: a partner, an older child with an age-appropriate chore, a grandparent, a neighbor, or a paid service. Add a name and a deadline so the handoff is clear.
